  • gold income and science output

    Hi there,

I have been playing on prince for a while. I play Fritz and it is 1530 AD now.
As I do usual I created new games until I found a suitable starting position and tried different expansion strategies.
Until now it worked fine. I am number two with arround 1000 points. Ashoka is #1 with about 150 more. He has always been the lead scientist which became worse since he discovered liberalism and beat me by two turns.
I realy try to catch up but it seems very hard. One reason for this is GOLD! I cannot maintain a science output above 60 or 70%. I have bee building hamlets, the colossus have six gold fields and still my net income is only arround 120 GP.

I wonder how much income other players have at about the same point level.

To catch up again, I researched Nationalism and want to use a great engineer (which I already have) to build the Taj Mahal to trigger a glden age and then develop Democracy to build the Statue of Liberty (and get free specialists if I remember correctly).

Any idea if this could work?

My current game on monarch. 1682 AD, I have a 186 income with 70% research rate (my bills are 190 though).
Amazingly you should see the computer pump out units/research even if it has only one city left...

    2644
    956 Julius Caesar
    566 Alexander
    526 Mansa Musa
    0 Roosevelt
    0 Frederick
    0 Saladin

And I just took out Mansa's capital with lvl 9-10 knights and 2 3 catapults to soften down the place. City count atm 18. I did switch most of my cities to comerce though.

    Diplomatic relations:

    Mansa Musa : -18
    Alexander : -12
    Julius Caesar : - 9
