  • WLTKD? What's it Good for?

Is there any benifit at all to the We Love The King Day in Civ4? The Civalopedea doesn't talk about it and I don't see anything specific in the manual. Checking my cities I don't think it does anything other than show me a silly smily face.

A city celebrating it doesn't pay maintenance for a turn. Not a big deal I think but it saves you some money.

actually your capital pays just as much maintenance as every other city if I understand the mechanic correctly?

well, apart from distance related maintenance obviously.

Yes, and if they have a really big party all time long, you save 650g or so on epic, I mean you can upgrade your first warrior to a mech. infantry for that price

I built the globe theater in a city so there is no unhappiness in it so I should always have WLTKD in that city right? It doesn't seem to happen that often though.

I remember in previous civs there would be some rule like the sity had to be a certain size and there had to be more happy then content and no unhappy. Whats the rules for civ4?

There's a percentage chance that comes into play for WLKTD when a city meets the requirements, there are no guarantees.
