WTF - Now it stops working - ATI

Well getting annoyed, have a very high spec'd ATI machine, and sure enough when i installed the game a while ago now, i had the problem with the initilization at start up, and sure enough once i did those 2xfixes all worked, and yayyy been playing for weeks without one single problem, not even a single crash or hiccup....

Last night, all ok, this morning woke up, turned PC on, and opened up CIV, and now getting the damn initlization problem again .. so what this game no longer likes mornings?

Did both the 2xfixit steps suggested (again), which worked last time, and NO JOY!!! Right in the middle of a good game as well ....

Anyone else had this type of problem, where it just suddenly decides to stop working for no reason at all?

Damn annoyed and getting close to binning this game....

Check your display resolution, try and change it. If it makes you restart to change your resolution then we're having the same problem.

For whatever reason sometimes civ does something weird to my display resolution and I have to restart my computer and everything works fine again. There are times I REALLY hate the hoops I have to jump through for this game.

Hey thanks for that, as yeah found the problem over the weekend when it did it again. I have two monitors i use, one does 1920x1200 and the other only 1280x1024, and when i set the game to play at 1920x1200 then stop playing, shutdown, then swap monitors, and try and start playing on the 1280 monitor, bammooo ... but then if i switch back to 1920, game works, if i then set the resolution of the game down to 1280, shutdown switch back etc, then works fine ....

Seems to just be a problem with the game trying to force a higher resolution ..... anyway problem solved!
