Thank God for P2P. I was last burnt on MOO3 - Never again for me. In defense of CivIV it was not as bad as RTW. Hell I found over 70 bugs in the Demo and CA did not even try to fix them.
What is wrong with Rome: Total War? That was going to be my next PC game if I decide against buying Civ IV.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
lots of bugs, and horrible treatment of customers etc by company. go to the various rtw sites to get the most biased opinion possible, and its probably the correct one. didnt buy the game so i personally know little.
in cIV's favour i will say the release is quite smooth compared to other games

RTW is considered to be a step down from MTW - though it depends on what you want from a game. I actually liked the shorter battles in RTW, but the AI was also a little dumber in battle.
The one main gameflaw in RTW was the seige bug, where if you load a saved game, the AI would lift any seiges it had from the previous turn. Activision basically buried their head in the sand on that one
I do feel that RTW_Barbarian Invasion moves the game back on track (It also appears that the seige problem was addressed,) but I haven't played it too much since I got it.
I got distracted with AOW2_SM and SMAC...and I just got civ4 too...
Too many options

On what basis is it called buggy? It worked right out of the box for me.
Vmxa1, how much have you been paying attention to the forums in order to find out how buggy the game is or isn't? There's been a poll on whether the game worked out of the box for people in this thread and it looks as if a whole lot of people are having problems. I happen to be one of the people who finds the game as shipped unplayable, even though my system clearly meets the stated requirements. (There are workarounds I could use, but only if I were willing to ruin the exploration phase of the game, and even then some less serious problems would remain.)
It's great that the game worked fine for you out of the box. But I would have thought you knew more about the computer and software industries than to assume that just because it did for you, it must for everyone else too. If you haven't been paying attention to bug reports, you really should have done some checking before you took the tone you did.

To give you the ultra short answer, plenty. I'm the founder of The Trivium Organization (TTO) and former Admin of The Total War Center (TWC). If any of you know about RTW and its community, especially the modmen then you know I am/was an authority on the game from a techie and community standpoint.
There are literally hundreds of errors and dozens of bugs. I personally fixed over two dozen of them in one of my mods called the Cherry vanilla pack (CVP).
Anyway I don’t want to go off topic so, if you want details about errors checkout my review at Amazon.com of the game. It should be #51 - I think. Please note, it has been highly edited by Amazon staff (also the star rating was a protest level [long story] due all the five star uninformed reviews). Then go to TWC and check things out.
As a final thought, in all fairness, it is a great game and has massive, massive potential when you over look lots of issues.
I think gdijedi7 went more than a little overboard in attacking the ACLU in the process of explaining what it is, but when many people regard an organization's name as not accurately reflecting its true character, it is important to give more than just its name if people from other countries are to understand it.
From the perspective of its supporters, the American Civil Liberties Union is exactly what it claims to be: an organization that stands up for civil liberties. From the perspective of its critics, it is so caught up in protecting minority rights that many of its actions constitute a direct assault on the majority's civil liberties, and so caught up in protecting criminals and suspected criminals that it poses a threat to the public safety. Any debate over which characterization is more accurate would obviously belong in Off Topic. But people who have never heard of the ACLU need to hear at least a little bit about both points of view if they are to have a reasonable picture of what the organization is.
However, contrary to how padillah made it sound, the ACLU is not a consumer protection organization. It is focused on protecting people against government actions that it interprets as violating people's rights, not on protecting people against products that don't work the way they're supposed to. There are a number of consumer protection organizations in the U.S., but the ACLU is not one of them.

You're that Spartan! Cool - welcome to apolyton.
As for RTW, it got much better with the 1.3 patch... but unfortunately that patch also screwed all the existing mods for the game, and the mods were really the only way to play (though I may be slightly biased seeing as I was the founder of the TFT mod for RTW).
Civ 4, on the other hand, is a good game out of the box once you get past whatever technical issues you encounter.

Thank you for the warm comment. Yeah as much as I loved RTW I burnt out on everything, especially the needless political BS within the community and I also had to deal with some personal issues -etc... So I decided to quietly fade away. You know at one point I was spending on average nearly a hundred dollars a month to support the community and its modmen groups and I was amazed I was being called a "tyrant" by some. Well when EB is finished it will show that my vision was true and a community development plan focused on mod makers is the way of the future for none company owned game communities. Sorry to digress....
Anyway, I hope all is well at your site and I look forward to helping to develop this community in what ever capacity I can. I must say I joined this community a few years ago (if I remember correctly my name was either "Samurai" or "The Trooper") but I never really got active due to MTW, CC, MOO and my business.
