Have you lost but gotten higher than Dan Quale?

Has anyone lost but gotten rated higher than Dan Quale? I don't think I've heard of it and I've definatly never done it.

What does it take to get better than Dan Quale? Geez, was he really that great a leader that none of us can beat him?

Just last night I lost a space race by ~4 turns, and got whoever's right above Potatoe Dan. (this was on Noble).

yes. I lost via space race after the year 2000. I was messing around trying to get a cultural victory, so my civ was easily #1 in points. I had plenty of score points.

What irks me is I can't ever get above the middle on those leaders. Even on the easy levels. I want to get the highest leader (can't remember the name right now)

I have won 2 games, and all I got was the DQ. I am too timid, role play too much, and spend too much effort building up my civ.

Since I am rarely going to do otherwise, I suppose I better appreciate the DQ!
(and no, I haven't been to Dairy Queen in decades)

On my second game I won and was rated Alexander or whomever the top name is. Seemed kindof easy to get this high on warlord, and on the second game. I've since won on noble and got something a few below the top.
