    1970 Game over space race won!?

    Hmm!!
    Seems a little early to me!

    Does this happen to most peoples games?
    I lost poorly infact i was at men with rifles and building rail roads at this stage after been attacked constantly!

    Setting was noble, but AI always seemed leagues ahead!

    AI is quite good at bypassing techs not really necessary for it's purpose.

    Games I won sofar were in the 2010-2020 time range (on noble, quick game), with one of the AI's almost finishing its spaceship (had to sabotage it).

      Yeah, 1970-1990 is a good time for a spacerace victory on noble.

      I'm suprised the AI does it that fast, it never does in my game.

      Problem is the constant fighting, it's almost impossible to blitzkrieg in Civ4 so that makes wars drag on. And while at war you are usually at lower science tech than normal(and building mil instead of infrastructure) so after awhile you will get behind. It's really in your favor to end a war quick and not try to exterminate your enemy. Capture 2-3 cities, raze his land bare and go for peace.

      I'm with you though, the AI attacks me very often, and it's usually not 1 AI, but 2 declaring at once.

        In Civ3 on lower difficulty settings I think it was pretty doable to fire the thing at about 1500

          My last game was a spaceship victory in 1880 something (Monarch).

          Don't look at those dates, they're mere fluff.

              Not a lot of games, but it seems they do not fight each other all that much at Noble.

              That makes it easier to go for SS, especially if they can get some techs from you.

              It is really had to do much war unless they are your neighbor. I have not tried sending in crews to chew up their land, but that should work. You just have to start it much sooner.

              Down the road I want to try some games with more fighting. Just have not gotten enough play time in to branch out.

                I Guess the dates really dont matter, as after all its a what if game and not an exact replica of our worlds history.
