  • Unhappiness/War Weariness in Civ4

Hey guys, I've been looking for some sort of thread on this, but my searches have been fruitless. My friend and I ended up in a really long term war(100 turns+) in a 2v2v2 game and it caused our population to have -10 to happiness. There were many tactical mistakes made until we finally were able to attack successfully. I found that even declaring peace for a short time and restarting the war caused that same penalty to appear almost immediately. Does anyone know the exact mechanics of war weariness?

No info on civ4 war weariness yet. It MAY be based on how it was in Civ3 (see CFC Civ III War Academy - How Does War Weariness Work? )

In Civ3 it took 20 turns of peace for war weariness to be totally neutered. If war was resumed before then, you could have problems.

Hmm, I wonder if there's any difference between whether you restart the war or if the opponent attacks you instead in terms of the reset of war weariness. Either way that's a huge detriment to 1000 year wars XD

Being at war with a country that has the same religion as you is a HUGE negative. It's like 5 unhappy's right off the bat!
