  • "Free" specialists?

I was just thinking, when a wonder (or other improvment) gives you three "free" scientists (or whatever) does this mean you get three scientists in addition to your citizens? Or you get the ability to turn three of your citizens into scientists instead of just one (or none)?

I've assumed that the free specialist is automatically put into play. Is that right?

Meaning, you finish the wonder, you now get a free specialist...you don't have to go to the city screen and toggle the scientist on or anything?

Yes, they are automatically put in. No need to go place them manually. You cannot change them from what is given however.

(iirc they actually show up below the other specialists kinda like where the super specialists typically sit from great persons, but they don't have the little star on them like super specialists)

Some things just give you a free specialist in each city, and you get to choose which sort (based on your buildings available).
