The game doesn't seem to release virtual mem properly anyone else having the same problem?

I would upgrade your RAM. My system specs are close to yours, Athlon 2200+, 1GB Ram and a Radeon 9500. I have High Detial graphics and even play in a 1280X1024 screen rez and I only experience minor late game slow down on a standard size world.

I am going to try a Large world soon, but I might wait till a patch with all these lag reports.

New RAM is ordered, so we'll see what it gives when I install it. Problem is, I don't like playing on small worlds - I prefer large, epic games with lots of civs. So a new motherboard might be in order too. I'm starting to get really antiquado anyway.

If you need a new motherboard, in many cases you might as well buy a new computer, so it has a newer hard drive, graphics card, faster bus, etc.
