no save possible

I searched here, but could not find anything close to my "newest" problem.

After I tried all and everything without any success, I decided to play some small maps.

Uninstalled game, defragged drives, re-installed.

Started the scenario "desert war" or ist it "desert storm"?

Anyway, the game runs fine, but I cannot save!

Both, auto- and normal saves produce an errormessage like "error: failed to save game in c:\~\my games\CIV 4\single".

Of course I checked the folders; they are there, I do not have any write protections or stuff like that, I run out of ideas and am at the end of my motivation.

Any ideas?

I have once been unable to save in a game that was just about to crash.

After *some* reboots it started to work again.

Oh well....

Then I started again the "desert storm"-mod and guess....

NO SAVES POSSIBLE

So I think, there might be an issue as well with this particular mod.

I ran into the same problem last night on a normal game. First I was notified that autosave wouldn't work, then I tried to save manually. No luck. Went another turn, tried again, no luck.

I exited the game & went to bed, will see what happens today.

Everything has been good up until that point. Only thing that I have changed was addition of new Dell 2005 monitor and running it at native resolution (16xxx x ???)
