i have seen a few people moaning now about epic games and time it takes at the start to build even the most basic things and i know what they mean so i thought i would make this thread

i play on monach atm and i am fond of huge/archipeligo/high sea/temperate,i usuall play as England - Victoria (bah red coats need a buff )

if i start with many trees i will often set my research to bronzeworking (24 turns) and in my city make a worker (23 turns) and just take those 23 turns on the chin as often you will only get about population 2 or 2.5 in that time
then i will chop like crazy and make a settler (2 if i have many trees) and then go for stonehenge, using up all my starting trees
At this point if i still have forests left i will try for the oracle and often i get it with a view to founding christianity with my free tech or using my first great person to found it

if i accomplish this i am happy with my start

If i start with few trees the first thing i make is a work boat (hopefully i got fish or what ever) and after that i will make warriors until i have population 3 at which point i will make a settler
while i do this i set my reseach towards hinduism (polytheism? ) as meditation which gives Buddism will almost always go
Once i have a settler i will make a worker and then again i will aim for stonehenge and if i get it im happy

The first turns of the game, say from start till 500 bc seem so very very important to me and can be the difference between you being a competator or a weakling by 1400ish and i think maybe my starts are inefficient but i cant see how to fix it

discuss and feel free to tell me better ways to play
