  • Solution for PCI-E ATI VPU recover errors

I was getting lots of VPU recover errors and bad crashes after every 3-10 minutes of play that made me need to cut the power. I found a (bad) solution:

    1. Install the latest catalyst drivers with control center
    2. Download and install the Rage 3D tweak plugin from http://rage3d.com/r3dtweak/
    3. Download and install ATI Tool from http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/
    4. Using Rage 3D underclock your card as low as it will go
    5. Using ATI tool force your graphics card fan to run at 100% power all the time.

This needs to be done because the AGP speed cant be changed on a PCI-E card, and I can find no other solution despite trying every driver and setting.

    This worked on my x700
