  • Major Diplomacy Bug - Enemy Agrees to Anything

OK guys I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is a major bug in diplomacy when you are at war with another civilization. I just found this bug playing a game as Rome in the modern age. I was in a war against France.

    1. I started a dialogue to end the war. I stacked all of his cities as if he were going to give them to me

    2. I say, "What is the price for peace?"

    3. A dialogue comes up saying in this type of agreement only 1 side can offer a trade, thus nullifying our original trade

THE ONLY PROBLEM IS, THIS NEVER HAPPENS

He agrees to the agreement and surrenders all of his cities, and they are now under my command.

    Major bug

Hmm, this makes me think of what i've experienced. I asked for 3-4 tech's, the leader refused saying my offer was totally unreasonable. I can't remember completely, but i think i did the same thing as you and i got all the tech's i wanted in the first place.

I couple of times I have wanted to extort stuff from the ai after a war. I cue up all the tech and goodies I want and ask if he agrees and I am told to stuff it. I then ask him 'what is the price for peace?' while all I want is still on the table. I get the 'only one player can put goods on the table message' but I then I get peace and the big pile of gold I was asking for anyway.

However I tried that once with all the AI cities and he did tell me to sod off.

A few things seem to need to happen for it to work (to get all cities). First of all, the AI has to be willing to offer you something to end the war, when you say "Let's bury the hatchet, what is the price for peace". If the AI wants something from you, it doesn't seem to work.

It is hard to explain and reproduce but I hope this will be explored and fixed some time soon...

weird. I guess you could just not exploit the AI though. . But could be a serious issue in multiplayer with AI civs in the mix.
