  • I'm a little ashamed to ask this, but...

...how exactly does one hurry a project?

I can't find the hotkey anywhere, and I must be overlooking the button on the city screen. Couldn't find it in any of the obvious spots in the manual either...

The icons for pop-rush (if you are in slavery civic) and gold-rush (if in uni suffrage civic) are located in the lower right of the city screen. Note some things (like space ship components) cannot be hurried.

Do you know where you can "emphasize production", "emphasize growth".. its the 2 big buttons on the top of that display. The one on the left lets you rush production when you have slavery, the other on the right lets you rush for gold when you have Universal Suffrage.

although techincally, things called "project" can't be hurried.
By working faithfully eight hours a day, you may get to be a boss and work twelve hours a day.

I could have swore I hurried a wonder with a great engineer. But my last game it said I can only hurry buildings and units. What's up with that? I could have swore engineers could hurry national and world wonders.

Great Engineers can hurry wonders, yes. However, just like in Civ3, you cannot rush wonders through pop/cash rushing. There's also another difference in the fact that you need certain civics for rushing.

Did you have any wonders currently in production?

yep. I think I was building the internet at the time. i wanted to hurry it and try to get a culture victory. Well, I failed in my culture victory . had to settle for a space ship victory instead.

Well, first off, the Internet is a project and they can't be rushed.

And then it produces no culture, like the other projects.

What were you trying to accomplish?

it does produce culture I'm pretty sure.

And is'nt a project the same as a wonder? now I'm getting confused. Time to break out the manual again.

No. Projects (ss parts, SDI, Manhatten, and The Internet) are different from wonders. They do not exist in any given city. They cannot be captured, and they cannot be rushed.

They also do not produce culture, since there is no city to tie the culture to.

Some can and some can't. I'm not sure what the cut off line is. Maybe national wonders can and one of a kind wonders or previous age wonders can be rushed.
