  • Some questions- any help is appreciated!

Okay, been playing for a few days and have a few questions of various types.

    1) Launch spaceship? I built all the parts but couldn't figure out how to launch it. The AI never launched either. How is this done?

    2) Sabotage- even while at peace with everyone, I kept having my oil wells sabotaged as soon as they were repaired/rebuilt. How do you stop this? Do you need to station a unit there, or a spy? It was really quite ridiculous.

    3) The game never ended. This might be a bug, or maybe I did something wrong. Anyway, I got past the last turn and the game never ended. I also lost the option to retire. It just kept going on and on.

    4) I have not been able to get the option to have a permanent alliance with another civ. What does it take to have this appear in the trade/negotiation menu? Even after I had all techs, I have yet to see this option come up.

This is all I can think of. Any help, suggestions or ideas would be welcome.

    1) It automatically launches when you build all the parts. Check out your Victory advisor(F8)

    2) Geez, that's crazy, yeah station a spy there. According to the manual, spies drastically reduce enemy spies effectiveness and normal units help a small amount.

    3) Errr, you went past 2050 and nothing happened? Did you play through play the game or through custom game? Did you click on the "One....more...turn..." option?

    4) Perm alliances are only for custom games like team games so you can't break them. Misleading I know, they should really take it out of the tech descriptions. The next best thing is to make a defensive pact, you can make those if you and your firend are both at peace with everyone. Better than nothing.

Sounds like an some AI won a victory and you missed the message and clicked on the option to continue the game without realizing it. At least I hope that's what happened, would suck to not be able to finish a game because of weirdness.

Thanks for the reply! As far as #1 and #3, I was having a great deal of late game lag and bogginess, so it's possible that I missed the messages that launched the ship and ended the game. I was so close to the end that it is possible that ship hadn't made it to AC, but nothing I could find indicated anything. About the end of game, even on subsequent turns beyond 2050 I never saw the "one more turn" dialog box, so I was thinking it was not working right.

Thanks for the info on #2 and #4,; I guess I have to make a policy of sticking spies on key resource locations; it was driving me nuts! And also on, yeah they should fix the description, but as long as I know something isn't broken I am happy Thanks again!

I've never had to deal with AI spies, but then again I've been playing mostly small continents and islands. If you finished all of the parts of the spaceship, it should have played the victory movie, so an AI likely won that you missed. It's also possible you disabled the victory options
