  • Help! Really low FPS!

On my other comp, Civ 4 is running, but with really low FPS. I've edited the the CivilizationIV.ini, turned everything down to low, but still no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, I get the choppy intro video.

    My Specs:
    Alienware Hyperspeed
    AMD Athalon 64 3200+ 2.20 GHz
    1 Gb Ram
    ATI Radeon 9250 128Mb
    120Gb Hard Drive

That video card is a bit old now, see if you can get a new one.

I surpasses the requirements, and I've seen that people on this forum are running it with 32mb cards. I don't have the money right now to invest in a new card.

Make sure you have updated drivers. Check the graphics settings: low quality, no AA, no AF.

Other then that, you'll need to save up and buy a new video card

what leads me to believe that it could work is that it runs with an exceptable framerate until I click on a settler and the border shows up. I have updated to latest drivers, and then I switched to the omega drivers, which helped a little.

            Re: Help! Really low FPS!

Wait for the patch, with your specs is supposed to run at a good speed. The video card is a little low but it supposed to work at a good speed even with your card but maybe they'll optimise some code in the next patch... maybe not. Many people wish yes!

            Good luck...
Oh yeah and in the ATI control panel try to play with all the options...

Lower the image quality(and texture quality), disable AA...

Try what your inspiration tell you to do...

                See ya

If you want, try GameXP, maybe it can help.(it's freeware, do a search on goole to have more info)

Deleted (redundant with something said earlier).

You are stuck waiting for a patch.

I have a 2.0GHZ machine with only 512MB RAM and the same video card Radeon 9250 and I'm not having any trouble with performance. Obviously set the graphics levels to low and download the latest drivers but another thing I found that really increased my performance was turning off all the sound under options. I don't usually listen to the sounds anyway.
