Trying to trade but get this message...

I am in game and have Catherine and Cyrus to trade with. I want to trade resources but I am getting the message 'not connected to trade network'. What do I need to do to 'connect' em up? I have roads to them. Whats next?

I think you need to have a connection to their captial, plus your resources need to be connected to your capital and the resources you want fron them need to be connected to their capital. You can only trade good available to the capitals

You need an open trade route. There are many ways to do this:

-Roads
-Rivers
-Sea route
-etc.

But yes, you need a route to their capital as well, not just one route to one city.

and the route must be from your capital to their capital.

And there is also an economic civic that prohibits foreign imports.
(Which makes the offending civ my favorite military target)
