  • The "fat cross" / Movies

If I have a mine, farm, or cottage outside of the "fat cross" of a city but within my cultural borders, do my cities get any benefit from that improvement? Another way to ask the question is: do you improve evey tile within your cultural borders?

Next, I shut off movies when I first loaded the game. How do I turn them back on? Better, is there a way to watch them with out starting the game?

As a note, I can play the game up to the 1990's; after that time, the game will either freeze or throw me back to the desk top.

    Thanks.

Improving tiles outside a city's workable radius (the "fat cross") is pointless, except for building the appropriate improvement on special resources, which is necessary to take advantage of them. However this improvement (combined with a road) only gives you access to the resource and doesn't provide the food/hammer/gold benefits it would normally have if it were in the workable radius of a city.

In short, there's no reason to biuld tile improvements other than roads and resource improvements outside the workable radius of a city.

Unless you are trying to get farms into the city's radius.
