  • Patch Next week

Or so says civfanatics. It's on the main page, latest news.

    Should be interesting.

I hope they worked on the black terrain issue, I have a good enough card with T and L but it still showing the flood plain stuff through the fog, grain bug on city screen too, thats annoying.

I have the same problem and it seems the majority of people who have problems with flood plains and the yield icons have GF2/GF4mx cards (the GF4 is basically an overclocked GF2). Do you happen to have one of these cards?

Yup, yup. GEforce 4 MX 440

I have those same graphics issues with the flood plains and bread. The bread to me also seems backwards. I see like 2 bread on plains but only 1 on grassland, that is not what it should be.

The black is fixed mostly, but the rest is still cruddy. Plus my sound no sinc up (skips in movies), unless a start and stop then reload the game.

My movies skip as well and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do to fix them. I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with the card, though. At least not directly.

It's not that nobody believed you. It's that the vast majority of people already knew a patch was coming and felt no need to respond...

You've also been badmouthing Firaxis quite a bit for things that they didn't necessarily have control over. That causes some folks to simply ignore your posts.

Yes, exactly the same, plus what I call the 'International Date Line' problem, when you can see a whole strip of terrain from top to bottom, about 2-3 squares wide, when you shouldn't.

My graphics card is the Nvidia GeForce MX 4000 with 128Mb memory.

If a company does something wrong, you certainly are allowed to post your concerns, but flaming them is just plain pointless.

All of these seem to be related to GFmx cards. I have a GF4 mx420 with the same issues. Firaxis will hopefully address them in the patch

The problem is that your posts on the topic are at best uninformative. The observation that there'd be a patch was hardly news.

I don't know about seebs, but I am certainly not a beta tester.

Nobody's denying that there are issues with the game, but that happens with most PC games these days. The number of people with serious problems is significantly smaller than most people here will want you to believe.

As far as Firaxis goes... Yeah, it's annoying that there are problems with the game, but the causes of these types of issues are the massive number of possible combinations of hardware and publisher pressure. It's in Firaxis's best interests to put out a perfect game. They have a reputation to think about and of course the Civ franchise... If they release an unfun version of Civ, the franchise could suffer enough to put it completely out of commission. They won't do that if it's within their power. Refrain from flaming them and let them patch the game

I only flamed them because of the Q/A that let this game ship and there is alot of people with problems more then they want you to believe. What I had to do to my computer to get it to run stable was a freakin JOKE! Before Civ4 I was 99.9% crash proof! It only leads me to believe this product was rushed out.

I guess we just stand on opposite sides of the same coin.
