Hi, I really love the intro/main menu music for CivIV...is there any way to extract that song from the data files?

    From the game root directory:

    \Assets\Sounds\Soundtrack

    You are looking for:
    OpeningMenu.mp3

That song is a version in Swahili of the Lord's Prayer -- 'Baba Yetu' and means loosely:

      Our Father, I praise you!
      Our Father, I love you!
Our Father, forgive me my trespasses!
Our Father, who Art in Heaven, Hallowed by thy Name!

or something like that when translated -- supposedly done by an 'A capella' choir and musicians from -- Stanford University!

Who it is done by, I really do not know, someone posted that about that song!

So you can pray before you start a game!

It's a great song indeed! And if it's a Christian song, that's another plus.
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalms 139.14a

The main menu is awesome! The design, the colours, the music, everything!

Christian huh? Christianity sounds a hell of a lot better when it's not spoken in monotonous undertones of people going through the motions.

I just thought it sounded cool. It's inspiring in sort of a John Williams Superman March sort of way.

Anyone notice the music from Civ 1 when the game is generating a new world?
The strength and ferocity of a rhinoceros... The speed and agility of a jungle cat... the intelligence of a garden snail.

music and old civ1 intro. read by spock

unfortunately I find the music from after the middle ages rather crappy just industrial bonks and clonks is what I remember. no rock and roll when I build the jukebox, no metal, not even crappy popmusic. just... noise

I find that the modern music plays a great deal louder or quieter than the previous erras. I have to change the music volume up and down based on what song is playing.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Civ1 intro, in full MIDI style, no less. That's a very nice touch, and a tribute to the original masterpiece. And the narratives are exactly how I had envisioned to be years ago. I am glad that they actually brought that back.
