Civ Manual Competition

I went for Civ IV, because they did a good job with it I feel, it's a quick read, and it's the most recent one they have...



Everytime I get a new Civ manual, it means MORE CIV!!!

If I had extended the list beyond the Civilization Series itself, I'd probably have voted for SMAC as well. While the presentation of the game mechanics was not superior to the Civ manuals, the "A New Sun" appendix really added a lot of flavour and demonstrated how much thought the designers had put into their virtual world. For similar reasons, I liked the historical sections in the Gettysburg (already mentioned), Colonization and Railroad Tycoon manuals (anyone remember those?).

SMAC as well. But I voted for IV due to the afterword. Spiral is excellent also.
