When I was playing multiplayer games I noticed that when you are planning to go rampaging thru one's country side you should build CATAPULTS. Come on people they are awesome! You can bombard cities' bonuses, shred stacks, and um look cool yea.

Also if you have the option don't attempt a river crossing attack! That is 25% penalty you can be avoiding people!

And this last strategy I am hesitant to give away because it works so well for me but here goes... Loot those improvements! If your opponent is gonna hide from the world in his castle make sure he can't build anything in them! Let your inner barbarian go and loot and pillage and all those happy things. Not only does it cut off your enemies' resources but also gives you money! One time in multiplayer the cash flow I got from looting let me take my 80% science to 100% and I still GAINED cash. So if your waiting for your catapults to finish building go and loot! You can always reconstruct the tiles once you finish off whoever your killing anyways.

Oh also don't underestimate grenadiers. They pack a whallop against riflers.

Select a unit, hold the alt key down and hover your cursor over the enemy. This will show you your odds of winning and give you ALL the information about their bonuses.

Additionaly if you select a stack of units and use the alt key over an enemy stack it shows you the odds of your best unit for the job vs the enemy unit that will defend and all bonuses involved.

Yes Grenadiers are the Axemen of their Era so remeber Combined forces are best.
Siege weapons are a must against large cities as they tend to have LARGE defesive bonus via culture.
