  • Civilization surrender?

I'm sort of new to the Civilization series, but a big fan of SMAC. For those who've played both, does CivIV not have the AI surrender their civilization to you after being pummeled into the ground? I haven't had it happen yet, and there was something strangely satisfying about it in SMAC.

    Thanks in advance!

    I don't think so.

I don't think there is anything like that however, last night the Chinese and I were putting the impudent Aztecs in their place. I had just pulled back my troops from the second city (they didn't wonder why?) and pressed the button on it.

The next turn all 5 of the Aztec's remaining cities were under the treads of the Chinese tanks and he was gone. So, I have to wonder now if there isn't a way for a civ to surrender.

I don't know if I'd call it surender but I've had them beg not to be destroyed.

If they have one city left and are down a few defenders they may ask you not to detroy them (and try pitifully to trade as much stuff as they have, which, after a war like that, ain't much)

I do miss SMAC style surrender. I would usually conquer 2/3 of Zakarov's empire only to give it right back to him when he surrendered to me. Let my vassal take care of his crappy cities!

            Heh heh... Thanks, again.

There definitely WAS something to how cool it was to watch someone groveling at your feet when you started mopping the floor with them. I'm surprised that didn't make it into the Civilization series.
