  • Abandon city?

I was just wondering if anyone has discovered a way to abandon or destroy your own cities. In previous civ games you could simply reduce your pop to 1 and build a settler but in civ iv, settlers don't reduce your pop. I hate when enemies build cities right next to mine and I can't destroy them after a cultural revolution. You can even let the enemy take it back over and then conquer/raze it since the game doesn't offer a raze option for cities you've reclaimed.

There's a mod being developed to do this (Thread: Abandon City (small mod)), but in the mean time, the only solution is to go into World Builder mode (from the main menu), change to "Eraser" mode, and then click on the offending tile that contains the city.

The only downside to this is that if you need to do it early in the game, then some of the enjoyment will be lost because once in World Builder mode, you see the whole map (including all current and future resource tiles).
