Don't forget the raging barbarian option, didn't somebody post a screen shot of a barbarian city which had managed to build the Colossus?
They did that in one of my games too! Imagine how shocked I was when I found a level 10 babarian city with a colloseum, walls and even the Colossus build in the harbour... So I nuked 'em.

It's the very defination of the word:

        ad·vis·er or ad·vi·sor Audio pronunciation of "advisor" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (d-vzr)
        n.

        1. One that advises, such as a person or firm that offers official or professional advice to clients.
        2. An educator who advises students in academic and personal matters.

        =========

I often see what he advise me to do, and i decide If it's a good idea... like I said before. The only thing I miss, it's the domestic advisor and the millitary advisor of civ3!!!!!

        HAHA tres bien monseuir...hahaha

Using the advisors as an absolute guideline = never getting past Noble, if even there.

            Exactly.
That means playing as good as AI on Noble.

Still, good for first steps in the game.

I totally feel your pain. This game is so dissapointing I'm nearing uninstallation of it and putting civ3 back on and just play at a harder level.

All I do is press the space bar...nothing happens. No wars, no volcanos, no barbarians, no anything but pressing the space bar....

such a lackluster game....this will surely be the last in the series, sadly.
Uh??? Well i guess me and you don't see the same...i see a fresh start in what was the only direction civ had to go ; ''new ground''. They redo much and the result is beautiful....one could say that in some region they oversimplify it but hey it's the 2000 era where one must make it easy to sell a lot....those poor kids out there want to win at all cost...it was that or include cheat code for infinite production and gold....

Most advisor option lead to an arm conflict....wich isn't the best way to win imho....maybe at settler it's ok but let's face it at settler the AI is so stupid it's damn hard to lose....but go up a little and tell me again all you did was click and spacebar......and then died....

So much to choose...wich science to research first?? What approach will you choose..space? UN vote? War?..no idle clicking for me....

This totally cracks me up. Claiming that there is nothing to do in Civ4 or any Civ game... hehe, talk about not getting the whole point of a game .

Start a game on Pangaea on Immortal and see if that's what you would call "easy". If all you're doing is follow AI recommendations, that means you can hardly beat Noble, if that.

If you want more action, toggle the Aggressive AI option and see the wars flow. Or combine that with Raging Barbarians!

I did that, but it didn't turn off the recommendations for new technologies and new city buildings. You know, the blue text in parantheses "recommended (Military)".

I know it's only a recommendation, but I noticed I'm getting influenced far too much by it. I guess I have to be forced to think for myself. *g*

Does anyone know how to turn those off?

                  Thanks in advance.

I guess I'm a bad civ player. I actually had to go down a notch in game level. I used to be a player that focuses on conquest/domination.

I also used to automate all my workers and city governors. Now I am trying to do everything myself. Turns take 10x longer now. I sit there pondering stuff like windmill or mine... engineer specialist or merchant?

I know this is a new game, but its like a "whole new game" compared to civ 3 for me. Even in civ 3 I hardly ever built specialists ( maybe an entertainer here and there...), or cared about terrain improvments, as long as my cities were not destroying building I built for them and kicking out modern armor in a timely fasson, we all got along.

Civ 4 opened up a whole new world of gaming depth for me.
