The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

Jesus... that almost justifies the marginal performance/price gain of an SLI system.

My computer hurts just thinking about trying to render that many pixels.

A better question: was the gear purchased with Civ 4 in mind, or was it just happy coincidence?

Well, last year I put together the box for about $2400... Asus p4C800e-Deluxe, P4 3.0ghz 478, eVGA 6800GT, 2gb Corsair XMS (184pin), yadda yadda... eventually went water cooled, and some other bits...

Two weeks ago, I replaced the Mobo, CPU, added the two 7800's, 240pin Ram, two Danger Den NV78 waterblocks, and the one monitor... $1800.

Turned the old parts into a gaming rig for my kids.

Pic of the guts... I recieved my PSU (Silverstone 650w SLI-certified PSU) in the mail yesterday, so I need to swap it out and finish cabling...

I think I'm up to about $5500 right now... and I'm done, or my wife will kill me if I order anything computer related in the next 12 months or so.

Cool. My brother set his up to run between his 2 21" Dell LCDs (3800x1200) but decided that having a 1.5" gap (where the bezels come together) in the middle of the screen just sucked. Probably works out a bit better with it split into thirds. Personally I just run it on my LCD and have other stuff running on my CRT (browser, e-mail, MP3 player, etc). Got to run windowed so that it doesn't automatically minimize itself when I activate another app though...
That it is wrong for a man to say he is certain of the objective truth of a proposition unless he can provide evidence which logically justifies that certainty. This is what agnosticism asserts and in my opinion, is all that is essential to agnosticism. ["Agnosticism and Christianity", 1889, Thomas Huxley]
