Is it just me? Or does the jump in required skill between Settler and Chieftain seem a little large?

I disagree on that front. My main beef with the game after owning it for 36 hours is that these two setting are rather simple to play. All you need to do is build 7-10 cities right away. If you can fend off the barbarians you will quickly outpace the other civs.
I have yet to try this on Warlord or higher. -
