What do you have to do make a deal cancellable?

How do you cancel a trade deal w/ another civ? I accidentally clicked a deal twice w/ the germans to put me at -102 gold/tur!!!! Every time I go to cancel it the game tells me that "this deal cannot currently be cancelled". Does anybody know why?

Umm guess u have to wait bout 10 turns, not sure.

Yeah I figured that out. Sorry my post wasn't very cohesive but I was going on very little sleep and a whole lot of caffine last night. I just kept playing and finally about 5/10 turns later it let me cancel it so I was getting my gold back.
