Hey, after a couple of successfull noble games (up to about 1500 when they become unplayable due to some sort of crash bug) I'm trying a game on Prince, and having no luck avoiding a gang bang by two AI civs roughly my own size. I have 4-5 spearmen in each of my frontier cities but they are crushed by a huge combined arms wedge of chariots and elephants. I could handle either civ alone, but together they are too much to handle and I get steamrolled each time, around 800 AD. I figure it's because I have copper and iron; apart from *not* having those resources, is there anything I might try to avoid this combined attack?
One of the civs (Peter's Russia) is my neighbor, with a disputed copper mine that has switched from them to me due to some culture boosting in the border town, but the other one, Aztecs, are on the other side of the map somewhere, I have no idea where, certainly not anywhere near me. Nevertheless they manage to get 10 or so chariots and those aztec UU's over to my side of the world to co-ordinate this assault. Impressive.
I wouldn't mind going to war with my neighbor, but it's impossible to hurt the aztecs who are attacking me from I don't know where... I can't take their cities, and they keep pouring units through french and russian territory. Help!
