I'm sorry for my flippant comment, but I was just responding in kind. Regardless of how long he has been here, he had no need to be so condescendingly rude.

There is more. But I don'r remember all combinations that are valid, and don't know which need debug mode, and which is okay with cheat mode. But you may try Shift-F1-4,6-7,9-12 and see if any of them bring up special screens. (Shift-F5,8 are Quick Save/Load, and don't have any other effect)Originally posted by Balderdash
Is this all there is? Does anyone know if there are any other key combinations that are enabled by the "CheatCode=chipotle" setting?Creator of the Civ3MultiTool

But your response didn't pertain at all to my question, and as such, it struck me as a dismissive and slightly condenscending retort to my innocent question.Originally posted by Joseph

Like you (probably), I've been interacting with people "online" since the days of 300 baud modems and BBS's--well before the "Web" and the internet revolution in fact--so over the years I have come to expect the worst of people given the general attitude people seem to have when shielded in a blanket of anonymity.
Anyway, I apologize from jumping to the wrong conclusion about your reply. I made an error in judgement, and I am sorry.
To everyone else, thanks! I'll try out some of those key combinations.

But now a question. Why change some code, when you can edit almost every thing in the game with the editor.
BTW after using the editor a little to much the game crashes.

The major drawback, gameplay-wise I mean, is that you lose the fog of war when you open up your map in it. Half the fun for me is exploring the map and finding good spots to found cities. Taking that a bit further, there's then the lost surprise factor and the "rethink my strategy" fun when I discover soon after that I just founded a city near a rival.Originally posted by Joseph

Truth be known, the only type of cheat I ever use is to build my road, and then later, rail network. I have always found that aspect of the Civ games tedious and boring while at the same time loving the effects, i.e., faster movement.
Actually, this is the #1 reason why I abandoned Civ3 after only playing it about a week. In it, they took out the fabuous in-game cheat system. In Civ2, I used to love activating the cheat mode (Alt-F7 (??) or something) and then clicking on tiles to instantly create roads and railroads.
Anyway, I know this is super easy to do in the WorldBuilder, too, but like I said, if I do, then I not only see the whole map, but I also see where all my rivals are and what they are up to, and that just spoils the game for me.

I have tried to use the cipotlecheat mode. My current problem is trying to get the cheat mode to enable. I did have working on another system before i had to reformat the drive and since then can't figure out wht I am doing wrong on enabling the cheat mode.
I know you use the "~", but what screen do you have to be in to enable the mode?

I cheat when I play myself in checkers. I start with only one checker but I make it a "super" checker and it can jump over other checker pieces even if there isn't a space behind it. The game only lasts one turn since I "learned" of this cheat. I now have more time to nap and to seperate the ply's on whole rolls of toilet paper! Man, that is fun stuff!
I am so happy now. I am the checker champion.
