Camera views

Is there a way to unlock camera view angles?
I am particularly interested in vertical angle - not going into 90 degrees from 45 so fast, so I could have wider view on more tiles from 45 degrees angle rather than from top.

Can they be user controlled at all? I have searched the manual and "rolled over" many icon/buttons and can't find wheree/how to do it. Can you control the zoom? Where?

This is what I am asking. XML could do it? I do not know. My first search in files gave some results like possible XML manipulation of this, but I have no idea so far if this is possible.

Zoom is controlled by the scroll wheel. It does not look like XML could possibly control it; XML controls numeric attributes and game rules, mostly, not the game interface and engine. You might be able to do it with the Python code used for the UI.
