Some people are really missing the distinction between unfinished features and design decisions. For example, the AIs not fighting each other a lot. It was a design decision to prevent the AIs from declaring pointless wars based on a random factor, as it was in Civ3.

Well my betas broken, because the game works fine for me. Even on my four or five year old system. The AI isn't that ineffective at waging wars, it just isn't as greedy or stupid was it was in Civ3. It can be satisfied with a city or two, extorting techs, forcing religious/civics changes. Thankfully its also smart enough to see when the tide changes and tries to make peace. In my current terra/huge/noble game I had kept the Egyptians out of war with other civs as much as I could.
I had to keep bailing them out of wars since I wanted them as a buffer civilization but eventually even all my bribing and diplomacy couldn't help them. The Mongols took and razed all but one of their cities, even going so far as to wipe them out. I expect a bigger war is just around the corner, too many civs packed into this continent. Its going to be brutal, but it should be interesting to see what AI superpowers develop.
Edit-The one city they didn't take was taken in the years before by the Spanish who I bribed to stop fighting with the Egyptians. I could have bribed the Mongols, but they wanted like 1700 gold. Is it wrong to let an entire civilization be destroyed to save a buck?Last edited by ChaotikVisions; November 1, 2005, 11:56."Every good communist should know political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." - Mao tse-Tung

Civ 4, like all the civ games before it is turn based, it has always been turn based, it's advertised as turn based. So my question would be, if the moron who posted that user review doesn't like turn based games, why the hell did they buy Civ 4??Resident Filipina Lady Boy Expert.

BUT. there ARE several in-game issues that have not been IMO fully completed. the AI is one. specifically relationship with the AI. bad scores never go away. good scores dont increase over time. I am now referring specifically to declaring war (3000 years later AI is still just as outraged, despite otherwise good relations) and secondly our 5000 years of peace only gives +1. shouldnt it increase over time?
Originally posted by LzPrst resources on the resource advisor are not numbered. why? the unit advisor is all but useless. the financial advisor has several concepts that are not explained by tooltip or civilopedia. the civilopedia is not finished and lacks among other things linking.
I don't know if I would call these issues bugs or not, but they're un-polished/un-finished areas of the game. Seems like Civ4 was rushed to release at the end, but why? It's not Christmas yet. Maybe the marketing droids wanted to release it at the same time as Age of Empires 3?

Tars, post your specs and stuff and some of these guys can probably give you some tips as of what to try to make up for it. they're very clever
and yes, I accept, and like the fact that the AI is no longer loco like a bedbug. i havent played that many games yet and I still havent finished one so I guess I shouldn't really talk too much about it.
BUT the interface issues I think should be amended. if it was design to no show the number of each resource on the resource advisor thats poor design. in fact most of the advisors I consider poorly designed. so this mainly what I want fixed cause poor design is icky. it makes me a sad panda.Diplogamer formerly known as LzPrst
