  • Simple patch requests

These are some things I thought could be added fairly easily in a patch. I would encourage people to post anything else related to the interface that could be easily patched and would improve the game.

    1. Allow music in the custom music folder to be played in order rather than random

    2. Allow middle mouse button to be the end turn button

    3. Save the custom game setup every time you start a new game.

    4. Show the total cost of upgrading all units. Currently, only the individual cost is shown when you hover over the upgrade button. (can anyone confirm that this is possible currently, and if so how it is done)

    5. Have an option preventing the research and diplomacy screens (or anything) from interupting custom music.

    6. Have an option to turn off ALL animations. (like water, sawmills, circling planes, etc.)

    7. Being able to right click a city to pick production from a list

    8. Being able to select a city from the City Screen (F1)

    9. Allow user to pick the civ's color

I'll vote for all five, and will propose adding a resource reporting screen as number six.

can we get a scrollable menu of city name options instead of the default city name over and over until we pick it...

can the player name default be the civ leaders name and not some serial number the game is picking off my hard drive ?

can we pick our color ?

I want choice in music too...

I like the little event lister on the top left side, but sometimes too many things happen and scroll off before you get a chance to read them.

Yeah I know that you can open event log, but its an extra click...

Also in the event log, could the events be clickable and then center the camera over the city or area where the event happened. I spent a good 10 minutes searching on the map for a city the french were reported as having taken only to realize it had been wiped off the planet and was now ruins.

Put the names of items next to the little icons in the Civilopedia.

Not for nothing, but these all seem like enhancements, and patches are generally released to fix stuff, not add stuff.

firaxis has been known to patch things like that in, though. Not the first patch, that should be the huge issues first, but later on.... that's how Civ3 progressed.

I think an extra resource screen would be too much work.

The event log is screwed up, it lags behind. I wish it would display everything at the start of the turn. But I also think this would be too much work.

A scrollable menu of city names seems like a very simple fix to me. There is already a screen asking for you to type is city name, so why not let you pick from a list. I would never use this feature, but why not.

And things like this do get patched. I agree that it is usually fixes, but look at the patches for civ3. They added things that were a lot more complicated than these things. I mean, these are very simply changes that would not take an excessive amount of work to fix. I would hope to see them included on the first patch.

Look at the music selection. There is already some mechanism programed into the game that chooses music at random. How hard would it be to have an option to play the music is order? Why should this not be included in the first patch?

Oh yeah, an option to turn off animations sure would be nice.

Any first patch needs to fix all of the showstopping crashes, if they have time for extra floss then so much the better, but a lot of things can wait for the second patch.

An option to cycle through fortified units would be good, how often in Civ3 did a moor a ship and then forget it existed for aons.

                            2. Allow middle mouse button to be the end turn button
That would suck. I'd go into a caffine fit and accidentally end my turn!

"Being able to right click a city to pick production from a list"

The right click build list would be great. I'm not sure if it would be too hard to do though. I guess there already is the list that comes up when you finish building something, so why not make that the right click list. It shouldn't be too hard.

"Being able to select a city from the City Screen (F1)"

                              Agreed

"The option to make the *sick* icons on cities bigger"

I wonder if this could be modded. You would think so.
