  • Comments: American Revolution Scenario

Just played the American revolution scenario, and i must say i was disappointed.

It's a great map, but it was WAY TO EASY. I was playing on noble, btw, and i'm sure it would be harder on a higher difficult level, but thats not hte reason why i'm disappointed.

I easily took bosten by building 2 cannons and moving a few of my northern troops to reenforce the "army" by bosten.

As soon as the cannons arrive, the town falls. Losses were minimal. The other towns South & West fell with ease too. The northern towns weren't hard to take either. Just a matter of moving up with my cannons.

Why didn't they brits have any cannons of themselves? Not in the entire scenario have i found one. What about cavalry - didn't encoutner one. If the brits would of had one, i'm sure they would of stopped my cannons at boston (cavalry have +25 against siege).

The brit ship presence was good, but pointless. All they did was bombard city defenses along the entire coast - What for? The brits would never get there.

Some thoughts to make it 'better':

Add about 3 cannons at boston + 2 cavalry. Add a cannon each in the southern 2 towns by florida and perhaps a cavalry in the florida panhandle.

Also it wouldn't hurt to spread some cannons & cavalry in the canadian towns.

Other than that - lovely designed scenario.

The problem with adding more units to the British is that it would then make it far too easy for them as a human to win. It's a tricky situation, and when you thrust the AI into something that it didn't itself 'develop' as with a random game there are always some issues. The AI usually performs much better when it grows from a single city.

Did the British AI ever try landing units vs. you?
