Game doesn't start

So here's the problem, after the initial loading screen, the game doesn't start up, absolutley nothing happens. I have done the ati-fix, but this won't affect the games launching, right?
Does anyone have any solutions?

My system specs are:
P4 3.0 GHZ processor
ATI 9550
1gb ram

I have the same problem here, the game doesn't start, and i got no error messages. No civilizationIV.ini was created at the installation also...

my system is:
AMD sempron 2400
geforce fx 5200
512 mb
windows SP2

This happens for me sometimes, after the initial loading screen the loading bar does not come up and nothing will happen.

I'll close the civ4.exe and try again, usually failing. I've noticed that the game runs after I leave a civ4.exe running and then try again... makes no sense, but it works.

Plus tutorial crashes my game, aside from all the other widespread problems, this game is in dire need of a patch.
