  • Is Civ4 compatible with SiS M760 graphic card?

    Hi,

I use an Amilo Siemens Fujitsu laptop. It is a AMD Sempron 3300+ with 512 Mo RAM. I went to this site:

My system failed the minimal requirement because of the SiS M760 graphic device. Everything else is fine. I even pass the recommended requirements.

    Has anyone got more information?

    Thx in advance.

I don't think that's a card, I'm pretty sure that that's integerated. You can't upgrade laptops, or atleast I don't know how to, so you'd have to get a new laptop or see if you have a desktop you can upgrade. If you get a new laptop, do not get integerated, pay a little extra, get a video card.

Apparantly, the M760 has Dx8.1 support, and v1.3 Pixel Shader. T&D or whatever, has been said to be most likely present if the video card has a pixel shader.

So, if this is true, then it should work.

Except I have an m760 in my Averatec laptop, and it's finicky. I can play the videos choppily, but it freezes, and I don't get a startup screen. It plays some African sounding music, and I lose everything. I have a desktop with a GF3 Ti500, which should work, but if i can get my laptop working, I'd be much happier.

If i get it to work, I will update this post. If you do, I hope you do the same :P

I have my Averatec 6235 running Civ IV right now. I only started my first game, but since I've made it this far, I assume it works.

All I did was install the latest update from the above link.

          My specs: Athlon64 mobile 2800+ (1.8GHz)
512MB Ram, 128 of which is used for video
          SIS M760 integrated video
Windows 2000, Kerio firewall, Symantec 2005 AV

I am using a lot of memory right now, so I might buy myself a Gig stick, which I've been contemplating anyway. Civ4 is showed as using 180MB of ram right now, and I'm using 440MB overall (Firefox, Civ4, AIM v4.8). Things are choppy right now, video and sound wise, so hopefully more RAM will suffice.
