  • not buying until patches released

I'm afraid i'm not going to buy civ4 at the moment and have to boycott civ4 until there are major patches released.
these are the following that needs to be addressed
by firaxis and take2, And i hope soren johnson reads this

    1) initial renderer problems
    2)sounds stuttering
    3)movies not playing problerly
    4)gameplay slowing right down
    5)memory leaks
    6)autosave probs
    7)dimplocacy screen probs
    8)crashes and random crashes
    9)video corruption
10)games freezing up after short time and long play
11)dvd or cd not being reconised in drive
    12)cd and dvd errors

These are just a few of the most common problems i'v read in the last 48 hours and its common amongst 100's of copies already released.

Soren johnson you need to read all forums not only on civfanatics and apolyton, you need to take note of what the errors people are saying and get to work on the problems.

Until then i will not be buying civ4 until these issues are delt with patches.

    thankyou

    Totaly with you on this.

Unfortunately I bought it on release day. The only way that software will become better is if consumers demand better quality, and the only way you can vote is with your wallet.

I do not think that rushed production schedules are an acceptable excuse for shipping non-functional (or even semi-functional) product. I've said before, just because you can fix it after release with patches, doesn't mean you should.

Civ 4 would be totaly awesome if it didn't crash to the desktop so frequently, or fail to work inplace on ATI hardware.

I wish I had waited to buy this. Big waste of money so far.

Same, I will wait on future Civ Products - I was so excited. Debated between AoE 3 and this one. Normally its a no brainer - but this is just not cool.

You know, about two days before Civ 4 was released I though to myself:

"self, should we just get AOE3 and wait to get Civ 4 untill next paycheck?"

          And I said back:

"you know that the AOE3 reviews said that it was tough on 3D requirements, and had cool ragdoll physics for unit deaths. It probably won't run as well as Civ 4 will."

Well, I don't know how AOE3 would be running on my computer, but I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that it would be better than Civ 4.

just head over to the ES Forums and have a quick read in the support section. AoE3 seems to run extremely bad on many systems
