  • Civ4 killed my comp

The game runs fine all along for maybe an hour max. and then my comp just dies, I mean just as if I had switched it off the hard way. Haven't seen any solution to that yet ...
I'm using a Radeon 9600 under XP with an Athlon 1700+. I do insist on the fact that the game runs real fine until the crash which seems totally random. Have tried this morning to just launch a game and then went to work, comp crashed, so I assume it has nothing to do with autosave nor religion, nor anything I can put my finger on at the time being.

It may have to do with overheating. When a comp shuts down without notice, it's often because the proc and/or GPU feel it's too hot. Try cleaning the fan.

That's a possibility. You may also want to try additional cooling (even just taking off the side can help). Since I'm too cowardly to add a Zalman fan to my 9800 I have a big house fan blowing into the box when I play total war titles or RON.
We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

          That's precisely what i did
The major problem, besides it's nearly 25° out there, is that my desk doesnt let my computer "breathe" enough . Well I'm not gonna start a thread concerning furniture issues
