  • NVIDA card problem

OK i cant run this game on my desktop. I have
    P4 3.0 GHZ processor
    Nvidia 6800
    1g 2700 ram
    2 120g hard drives
will not run, crashes 5 minutes into game

I am able to run it on my labtop
    P4 1.5GHZ
    ATI x300
    1g ddr2 ram
    60gig hard drive

anyone else had a problem running it on an nvidia, i unistalled drivers and tried to fix it like the ati fix.... no luck. It just locks up about 5 minutes into game so any help would be greatly apprectiated.

    Hi,
Yes, I have many problems using a 5700 Nvidia card, crashes, strange graphics glitches, even a blue screen once! I am wondering now if the DX9 which came with Civ installed correctly. I was looking for the DX9D3_26.dll (?) in my windows folder, but it not there, and I am not sure it should be
Sorry I have no answers, I did turn off movies, lowered the graphics to medium, it does seem to help a bit (at least longer bewteen crashes).
    You are not alone.

What do you mean by "crashes"?

Do you mean crashes to desktop?

Do you mean crashes to a blue screen/reboot?

Do you mean crashes back to the main menu?

Are you getting any knid of error message?

Do you have the latest drivers for your mobo & graphics card?

system crash requiring holding in power button till it turns off then turning it back on. Does not even give blue screen, just has random green dots all over screen. Does not do this in any other game i play, and i do play many games.

IIRC nVidea has some new drivers up for release (since wednesday(?)), see if those help out.

My Toshiba laptop with nVidia GeForce4 460 Go won't let me accept that update. Apparently I have the highest 3.6.3.9 from 2002 update it will let me have.

I have the same problem, whole screen turning into green dots, everything freezes, and I have to turn off the power. If I do just reset those dots are still there... strange, never happened to me before, and it happens only when trying to play Civ...

Some folks over at CivFanatics report better results on older drivers
(like the 71.x series). Still problems, but less of them I think. I noticed this also using 67.x drivers so maybe something to it. Might be worth a shot.

I can play for about an hour at a time with the 71.89 drivers, but I still end up hitting the problem. At least my mini-map problem seems to have gone away.

does anyone know where i can obtain older drivers to attempt this.... i wish the beta testers had tested with nvidia cards and sid had expanded his beta testers so taht these issues could have been known and fixed already.
