  • Terra Maps?

    Hello All,

What exactly is the TERRA map and how does it differ from the other maps like Continents for example. I see little bits of information here and there but nothing that really sums up what this map is all about.

    Thanks!

As I understand it, 'Terra' is a random earth like map.

      Thanks alva!

I wasn't sure if it was random or what the deal was. What exactly makes it "Earth" like?

My understanding is that it is an old world/new world setup. So all the civs will be on one continent, and there will be a new world type continent populated by barbarians and the like.

          Thanks guys!

I think I also heard that the Terra maps are larger than the other maps. Is this true?

I think you're confusing "New World" (which has the unsettled continent) with "Terra" (the earth-like setting).
That said, I haven't had a chance to try either one...

Right, this is the best I can come up with so far for Terra:

One big continent and one other continent (sometimes two) added to that are minor regions.

Translated: Eurasia + Afrika + (big continent), other continent(America sometimes together and sometimes not), Australia (one(?) of the minor regions).

It is significantly larger than the other maps at the same size, FWICR

It's significantly larger because a good half of the land isn't being used at the start of the game. I'd hate to be smushed into a map that's good for 5 civs, with an extra 3 floating around. The one time I tried a Terra, there were 5 in the game and I was basically surrounded right at the start by all 4 competitors.
