  • I would hope that most of us believe that women are just as capable as men at running companies, countries, what have you.

I would hope we all realize that this is a relatively modern conception about the two sexes. Even in the 1950s, I'm sure most people would consider that statement laughable, and they thought far more of women then than they did when Rome was at its peak (for instance).
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
    - John 13:34-35 (NRSV)

    • Eh, it's not the fact that there are few female leaders that bother me -- but more that the female leaders are constantly under a "who's sexier?" competition. Victoria looks mighty regal but we get "Ewww! What a hag!"

Meanwhile, Isabella looks like she came straight out of The Princess Bride, and don't even get me STARTED on Catherine's civilopedia entry where it insinuates she banged Diderot, Voltaire, and 1/2 of the Russian army...

      • Imran, I hope you realize that that foul "logic" stuff doesn't translate well to your intended audience. Try using emotional drivel.

That said, I like that my wife is a gamer so she is sympathetic to my need to play to 5am and she can talk to me about the game because she plays to.
You're so lucky, mine doesn't fully appreciate it when I stay up 'til 5am.

Women are much more fun than games, and one must realize when to stop playing and spend time with the wife and/or family. It's always tough when a new version of Civ comes out though. I'm just glad it didn't happen until the cold weather.

Both of my most recent ex-girlfriends seemed to get into Civ II & III quite heavily and weren't really all that big on PC games otherwise.

I agree that female Civ fiends are most likely the statistical minority, but they are out there...

                • I have an x-girlfriend that I got to play Civ. She liked it. Then she started playing The Sims.... never went back to Civ.

Be Warned: When it comes to your female SOs, all computer games are gateway drugs to the CRACK that is The Sims. It seems to be sort of like chocolate for them, but with nicotine additives.

                    • There is no way you could probably even get to use Hillary Clinton for Civ anyway unless you modded her in. Likeness rights would have to be obtained, I imagine.

But that's all for naught. When you start to consider living women of prominence and power, for the Americans it's gotta be Oprah.

She would have both commercial and militaristic traits, and under her leadership, when you discover Mass Marketing, every city in you nation gets a free tank unit and fem-friendly daytime programming to whip the masses into a killing frenzy.

"The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country." -- Abraham Lincoln

"Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever, in flesh and blood, walked upon this earth." -- Albert Einstein, in regards to Mohandis Gandhi
