  • Arrrrrgh, how do I cancel a trade?

I must be missing something blindingly obvious, but I don't see any way to cancel an existing trade with another nation.

I'm being bled dry by a 100g/turn trade to a friendly neighbor for Iron (the only way I could get it), and now that I've built the units I want, I want the trade off! But I don't see anywhere to remove it in the diplomacy or advisor menus, and now I'm completely broke.

    Anyone?

F4? Existing deals tab. Click on the deal.

Or, call the leader up and ask 'what deals do we have', or something like it. Click on the iron deal to put it back on the table for renegotiation.

Oh, I think deals have to run 10 turns before you can cancel.

In a pinch you could delcare war.

in the foreign adviser you can cancel by first clicking on the leader portrait then either left/right (don't remember) click on the deal you wan't to cancel.

Btw.. you must watch the AI... Sometimes it will propose deals for your only source of whatever.... I got sucked into a few of those deals ..

Lost the game because of that

It wouldn't cancel, not after 10, 20, or even 40 turns. I eventually declared war and let him kill me, it totally stalled my economy, and thus killed my research, dropping me from contention to last place in short order.

Lesson learned, never ever give gold as part of a trade, because you can't cancel it without delcaring war :P

Clicking on other trades would bring up the cancel dialog, but clicking on the gold per turn just caused the trade window to blank out.

It wouldn't cancel. Everything in the Civlopedia and the Manual indicate that it'd take at least 10 turns before it could be cancelled, but as I mentioned, it just vanished from the trade window when clicked on, it didn't pop up a prompt to end the agreement

I was offered to trade Horses(1) not realizing that wasn't an *extra* Horses. When they say (1) they freaking mean it!!

I had to reload to an earlier save game. Lesson learned, don't trade unless you have a (2) or more to trade!

for me it showed 2 (it was iron) so I traded, but forgot that I already traded one to another civ, so I ended up without iron.

The interface for that really blows, it should show how many you still have available.

make sure you click on your side of the menu, not the AI's to cancel.

I did, as I said, the trade vanished completely from the window - other trades cancelled fine, just not the gold per turn

Ok, I narrowed this down (and I have a save file if Firaxis needs it)

Through the default trade diplomatic screen, going to the 'lets see our current deals' screen, I can click on other trades on my side and it brings up the cancel prompt. Clicking on the gold per turn clears both sides of the table completely, with no indication or prompt as to what happened

If I go to the Foreign Advisor and check the current deals screen, I CAN cancel the trade of gold.

Other trades cancel fine through the diplomatic screen, only the gold per turn agreement seems to be bugged
