purchasing units/buildings

Hey all - 1st time poster.
Quick question ... now that I use Universal Suffrage I am supposed to be able to buy buildings and units, except I can't for the life of me figure it out. The Civilopedia and manual are, of course, useless for this and the interface jsut doesn't play nicely.

In the city screen, there's a panel just to the right of the central, "buildable items" panel. One of those buttons in that panel is for (cash) rush-buy.

Could someone with the game just post a screeshot?

There's just a lot to take in, quite normal to be a bit 'lost' during the first few games.
