  • Won't Start

Greetings! Maybe this is a common problem, but it seems different to me.

When I try to start Civ4 it pops up the loading box, and then another box pops up with a % loading, but it goes away almost instantly, and after that nothing happens at all. Anyone know what my problem might be?

    Thanks in advance!
    Steve

Yeah, I get the spash screen, then the loader screen. Once I get to Initialize Engine, the screen goes black like it usually does for full-screen games, but then boots me back to the desktop.

      WinXP MCE SP2
      Radeon 9550
      Updated drivers & directX 9c
      Executed UnPak utility

Try setting your desktop resolution to whatever Civ is trying to run at (default for me was 1024x768).

Another thing...I found that when the game restarts, if the install CD isn't in the first CD drive (although I installed using my 2nd drive, the DVD drive), the game wouldn't start.

I've installed it on my PC and when I try running from the desk top or going into the civ folder to try running from the executable and I get nothing.

I activated ProcessXP on my PC to monitor what processes are running, on the off chance that something might be blocking the executable, but nothing shows as turning on when you click on the link or the executable.

Defective executable doesn't makea lot of sense, sincea lot of other people are able to get the game to init. Suggestions?

You are not alone. I have the same deal. will not start. Tried all the suggestions I could find. No luck. Hope a patch comes out quick.
