I'd consider the true SoD a CivIII phenomenon - in Civ and CivII, instant stack death made it much less useful to run around with big piles of units.

The "CS gambit" or "CS slingshot" is a strategy where you try to finish researching Code of Laws just before you complete building The Oracle. This allows you to take Civil Service as your free tech.
There is another that is usually called "farseer", which is the same basic idea except you take Metal Casting as the free tech. I think it got the name because it's usually used as part of a beeline for Optics.Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.Comment

Farseer: Having the Oracle complete when you have already discovered Bronze Working and Pottery, and then taking Metal Casting as the free tech.
Alternate Pyramid Grab: A strategy based on the Farseer (q.v.). Involves running a Philosophical leader and building two cities, with the Oracle being built in the second one. Once Metal Casting is discovered, a Forge is immediately rushed in the capital, in which an Engineer is then assigned. After several turns, a Great Engineer pops out, who is then used to build the Pyramids.Participating in my threads is mandatory. Those who do not do so will be forced, in their next game, to play a power directly between Catherine and Montezuma.Comment

civs are mostly chosen, tech trading, always war unchecked, ect.
CTON - multiplayer style off play:
random civ choice ; no TT ; always war; no city takeower; 2 (or sometines 1) city elim. ; no chat about the game (normal "weather" chat allowed).Hmm........Is this a good idear ?Comment
