    Nice thread

How about teaching people the good custom of typing the whole word / phrase the first time you use it in a text/post, and abbreviate it later?

Some abbreviations like MM are just too generic, and even context can't always help make sense of them. For example:

"MM is great! I always loved MM! It always added a lot to my enjoyement of the game."

Is the above sentence about micromanagment or Marlyn Manson?

Not to mention what platypus wrote. C'mon, we're not really going to abbreviate cottage with C?

While it may be a little OT but IRC and AFAIK, IMHO you should use that MM, the WA can change a tile into C which some turns later, changes into an H only to turn into a V which then turns into a T, good for GPT, less for your SPT and FPT especially under WLTK.

To think I can't stand SMS text messages.

          I love this brief.
MM, in Chinese means "girl", it comes from the Chinese pronunciation "MeiMei"

            little sister to be precise

I like this concise list a lot better than the longer more chaotic Civ III list- Good idea/work Locutus!

Added MM and HP. MM is kind of hard to explain in one sentence, it's meaning often also changes based on the context. If anyone knows of a better way to put it I'm all ears.

Not really game related but frequently used.

could someone better explain what ICS is? Like why it works in the previous civ games but not in civ 4?

then you would have the entire beta team confused.

CyberShy is clearly correct from a traditional point of view.

In previous civ versions: The more land you owned, the bigger the chance to win the game. So early spreading of settlements was crucial. You could easily end up with 50 or more cities.

In Civ4: Too many cities become too expensive. Good management in less cities will usually give you a better result. So far I have around 10 cities in mid-game.

For more details I suggest the strategy forum.
