3 unit graphic v. 1 unit graphic...reason?

Anyone prefer one over the other, and for a reason?

I am just too used to the one unit graphic, haven't even tried the three...

Any actual difference between the two besides look? With the three, looks like an army from Civ3.

no. At least to me, it seems like resolution time of battles is the same, 3 units or 1.
