    Hopefully this thread will lead to some interesting discussion regarding the new way production is handled in Civ4.

    Since you can queue up units and change production without losing the hammers you could possibly build numerous units so they have 1 turn remaining and switch to something else. This could allow you to pump out units in rapid succession. However, there is some decay of hammers associated with delaying production. How much decay and when it happens is not clear. There may be situations where this type of building would be useful.

    Of course I'm too busy playing to test this out but it is feasible.

    Yeah, if memory serves, the decay thing was introduced b/c the beta testers (Aeson, I think) noticed the possibility of storing shields for a whole army - but not having any upkeep costs because the units weren't fully built yet. This being a potential exploit, decay was aimed at defeating it. I don't know the specifics either, though...
