  • Palace improvements gone?

Is that true? I'm talking about when your people loved you and decided to build you your palace or throne room(I thought the throne room was great).

I always got giddy about that.

    i liked that too.
While there might be a physics engine that applies to the jugs, I doubt that an entire engine was written specifically for the funbags. - Cyclotron - debating the pressing issue of boobies in games.

I didn't think it was terribly well done.

If they'd had the Palace building like in Civ 3 but with updates and replacements rather than add-ons (e.g. let's update the facade from renaissance to baroque) would have been better.

The worst of all was the European 'Palace' in Civ 3 that looked more like a Gothic Cathedral . . .

Perhaps Civ4 offers palaces that vary with era and cultural group ?

      I'm speculating, I don't have the Civ 4.

There were early screenshots showing an Aztec-style and a Japanese-style throne room a'la Civ 2. Was it axed?

Haven't seen a palace improvement yet. I also miss the advisors, even though their advice was usually not very good -- they were reminders to pay attention to military or domestic, or whatever.

I could swear the manual mentions the palace. But mine is at home, and I'm at work.

As for advisors, I mostly liked the information they gave me about my relative situation to others.

            "We're number one in Sciiiiiiiiience!"

            Always laughed at that one.

The Military guy was hilarious, too.

I did miss the throne room and even more the advisors from Civ 2. Civ 3 was a little too serious.

Are you sure there are no palace or similar in Civ4? I've heard varying claims on that fact here lately...

I have Civ4 and have played part of 1 game and so far, I have NOT seen any throne room screen. It may be in as an option but I'm not sure yet.

The manual mentions "Palace Screen" on page 27 in the list of advisor buttons.

Still haven't found it in-game, though.

Another last minute cut to get the game shipped early, I'd guess. Hopefully it will be patched into use if the feature was largely done but not good enough to release.

I thought they did put the advisors back in. I saw a screenshot somewhere of Elvis. He was the best.

The manual does mention a "Palace Screen" but I noticed it didn't mention an "Info Screen" on page 27. I thought I had seen screenshots of a thrownroom prior to the game being released. I haven't been able to find anything in game that supports a palace view. It looked to me like they were going to have a palace screen but exchanged it for an info screen. I really liked the palace feature and was sad to not find it.
