Uninstall Civ 3

I was having the horrible ATI problem as well. Nothing seemed to work until I uninstalled Civ 3. Now I seem to be able to have no more of the weird rendering problem.

If all else has failed you, it's worth a try...esp. in conjunction with all the other advice.

Ya know, this may sound like blasphemy, but i don't actually have any trace of Civ 3.

Yeah, I recently wiped my computer. and besides for many recent releases, not much else is installed.
(BF2, Q4, FEAR, B&W2, AOE3)

it could be possible that there are conflicts with other installed apps. ive got most of those newer games as well and nothings working. each shipped with its own dx installer too =D

eldo1975 , what was your "weird" rendering problem? Was it the "failed to initialize" issue?

This did not work for me either. I didn't think it would but it was worth a try.
